This season of Ballet Philippines will be the most exciting yet. The company in celebrating 50 illustrious years will be bringing to the stage some of the most beloved masterworks in dance. This 50th season will see a grand celebration of artistry and creative genius only Ballet Philippines can offer.
SWAN LAKE (AUG 30 – SEP 8, 2019)
Ballet Philippines opens its 50th Season with one of the most iconic classical ballets, Swan Lake. With music by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky, this ballet masterpiece has been a staple in the company’s repertoire since 1978. International and local dance stars have graced the sacred stage of the CCP Main Theater to essay roles in Ballet Philippines’ Swan Lake.
In celebrating 50 stellar years, Ballet Philippines mounts a performance of Swan Lake with new sets by Toto Sicangco, featuring Elena Evseeva and Andrey Ermakov, stars from the Mariinsky Theater (Kirov Ballet) in two evening performances, as well as exceptional homegrown talents. Here is one show that will set the bar high for dance this ballet season.

MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM (OCT 11 – 13, 2019)
The genius of William Shakespeare inspires Carlo Pacis’ magical and reimagined interpretation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This neo-classical spin on the classic tale breathes life to the enchanting story about young lovers, fairies, sprites and their many twists and turns under the light of the moon.

CINDERELLA (DEC 6 – 15, 2019)
To celebrate the holidays, Ballet Philippines is mounting the timeless tale of Cinderella as choreographed by National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes. The musical score by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky, which was specially arranged by Francisco Feliciano, will transport audiences to an enchanting universe. The design vision of National Artist Salvador Bernal adds dimensions to this world where pumpkins turn into exquisite carriages and glass slippers find their way back to its rightful princess. Holidays at the theater make for unforgettable experiences especially when its with Ballet Philippines.

ITIM ASU AND OTHER DANCES (FEB 21 – 23, 2020)
Ballet Philippines showcases its diverse and dynamic repertoire as well as the strength of its company in the different dance styles. With over 500 choreographic gems to choose from, this production will continue the retrospective story of the company’s journey to becoming the forefront of innovation, and artistic excellence in Philippine Dance. At the core of the production the company restages a modern classic, Itim Asu. Based on three ritual scenes from Virginia Moreno’s award winning drama The Onyx Wolf, the 1970 landmark production once again returns to the CCP Main Theater Stage.

RAMA, HARI (MAR 20 – 29, 2020)
Ending the 50th Season with a high note, Ballet Philippines brings back to the stage the dance-musical extravaganza that is Rama, Hari. The collective product of four National Artists, Bienvenido Lumbera for the Libretto, Salvador Bernal for the Production Design, Ryan Cayabyab for the Music, and Alice Reyes for choreography, Rama, Hari is a celebration of undeniable Filipino talents in dance, song, and story-telling.
